Welcome to New York!
Friday, July 01 2005
Well, it's my first day in New York City and I got a ticket already. Turns out you can't have a messed up window mirror -- which of course I do. However, it didn't put a damper on the day. I got all my (minimal amount of) stuff into Neil's apartment (I guess it's partially mine now too). Also made the first trip to the grocery store up here in Washington Heights. Tonight I'll go out for the first time as a resident of the city. What a crazy thing.
So, in the last 10 days I put another 2000 miles on the old (very very old) Civic. The time, the distance, and the happenings since Colorado sure do make it seem far away. I can, however, recall my last outing in Colorado the weekend before I left. I went up to the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area with a friend and got to enjoy the outdoors/mountains one last time before I took off. It was nice because that weekend was really first opportunity of the season to get up that high (and last for me) given all the relatively late snow we got this year. Turned out to be a beautiful trip. I did burn the hell out of my scalp though.
Here's the pics from the Indian Peaks Hike.
