Science in the Pantry.

I was reading the honey bottle yesterday and learned that "By consuming local honey, your body can eventually develop an immunity to local pollens that you may currently be allergic to." It almost makes sense, but I'm not sure I should be getting my Science from the grocery store. And it's not like I needed more incentive to partake in the stuff - though I would say honey in coffee is where I draw the line - as soon as I get more sugar that is. Anyway, Googleing a little reveals that at least every holistic medicine type website on the planet agrees with this statement. If that's not evidence enough for you well...I'm not surprised. I did find that the University of Connecticut has done some preliminary study on it and appears to back the claim (though there's a little anecdotal element to it there as well). Perhaps another positive benefit of buying local?
