Welcome to NYC (Part II)

I can't believe I thought a parking ticket was a noteworthy New York City welcome. Two days after I got that parking ticket Neil got all beat up in Brooklyn at a fourth of July rooftop party. Then, the day after that I got my car stolen! These events are much more deserving of the Welcome to NYC title than a little parking ticket. Neil's just fine now and can almost appreciate the experience in some kindof existential way and the loss of my car isn't really a significant financial or lifestyle hit. It's more of a sentimental thing. I had that car for a long time. It's been in Florida, LA, Seattle, and New York City and tons of places in between in the 8+ years (wow I never counted till right now) I've owned it. It had 245,000 miles on it upon arrival to NYC and I'm sure it could have gone to 300 easy.
Still, being here feels pretty right and apart from these unfortunate events, I've been having quite a nice time with the good people of New York. Tonight Me, Neil, and some friends are going to see Dinosaur Jr. (and Broken Social Scene) at Summer Stage in the Park. I've been wanting to see them since, I don't know, 1992? I remember having Bug on permanent repeat during a family vacation to Florida with my parents way back then. Not many people many people think of the Everglades when they think of the band, but I do. What a way to spend a summer evening more than a decade later though -- Central Park in New York City with J. and the gang...did not see that coming in 1992.
