Settle In & Clap

I've made significant strides in the last 24 hours towards really getting comfortable here. Just the simple act of painting my room and getting some basic furniture in it really goes such a long way towards making the place feel like my home. It's strange cause I always forget how good it feels to settle in to a place and make it semi-cozy. I've moved a bit too frequently lately to really invest that much time or effort into getting comfortable and it has probably been to my disadvantage to not do so. Regardless, I'm doing it now, and I'm happy for the difference that it has already made.

Amid all the disarray of settling in, I did manage to hear a new-ish band that I've been, once again, getting way too in to (i.e. overplaying the hell out of the few tracks I have). The band is Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, and they're from Brooklyn. In a happy coincidence, The National happen to be bringing Clap Your Hands Say Yeah along (I'm just gonna call them Clap from now on OK) with them on their tour and I've already bought tickets for their New York show. So that worked out well. It also works out well that Clap is playing with Devotchka (my favorite Denver band) for FREE at the Seaport Music Festival on August 10th.

Clap's got a couple of mp3s on their website but my favorites are Lost and Found and Home on Ice.
